Funding – European Research Council Starting Grants

The European Research Council (ERC) has
published the 2008 Call for Proposals for ERC Starting Grants, see
http://erc.europa.eu/.

ERC Starting Grants support early-career independent researchers of any
nationality with:
 • a scientific track record showing great promise
 • a ground breaking research proposal
 • 3-8 years experience since completion of PhD
 • a host organisation based in an EU Member State, an Associated
Country, or being an International European Interest Organisation.

The ERC Starting Grant aims to provide adequate support to researchers at
the stage at which they are intending to establish or have already
established an independent research team, or are developing an independent
research program.  ERC Starting Grants allow the most promising young
investigators to make the transition from working under a supervisor to an
independent research leader at an early stage in their career.

ERC Starting Grants amount to up to 2.0 Mio Euro for a duration of up to 5
years.

The deadline for submission of proposals to the Social Science and
Humanities panels is 19 November 2008.
