Public History Seminar
5 March 2009 at 5pm in the History Faculty Lecture Theatre (Old Boy’s School, George St, Oxford)
A panel discussion on publishing with:
Emma Brennan (Commissioning Editor of History, Manchester University Press)
Michael Strang (Commissioning Editor of History, Palgrave Macmillan)
Lisa Hyde (Editor, Irish Academic Press)
Robert Dudley (Literary Agent)
These senior figures from the publishing world will outline the role they play, explain what they want from academic historians and discuss future developments. The majority of the session will be given over to questions from the floor, and therefore represents a unique opportunity to quiz the experts. There will also be an opportunity to talk informally to the panellists after the seminar at a drinks reception in the faculty common room. This seminar is the first of a Public History Seminar Series, which brings together academic historians and those who communicate history to a mass audience. The seminar and the drinks reception are free to attend and are open to everyone. No RSVP is required.
